Cost of college went up for all students at Northwest College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.8 percent for 2018-19 at Northwest College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Wyoming residents paid $3,447 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $61 more than the $3,386 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 130.9 percent more than residents this year, or $7,959. Their price tag grew 0.8 percent from $7,898 in 2017-18.

About 61 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Wyoming residents. About 31 percent are residents of other states and 7 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 94 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 321 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.2 million and 94 students took out student loans totaling more than $424,089.

Including all undergraduates (1,488), 1,010 students used grants or scholarships totaling $6.3 million, and 288 students took out $1.5 million in federal student loans.
