City of Albany recently issued the following announcement.
The City of Albany American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Leadership Team is excited to announce that 63 proposals have been selected to advance to the full application phase. These proposals, which were gathered during the first phase of the City of Albany’s “Albany For All” program, total $68 million in requests. The City has committed $25 million of the City’s ARPA allocation for this phase of the program.
These 63 applicants, comprised of community-based organizations, small businesses, and City of Albany departments, will have until Friday, April 29 at 4:00 p.m. to submit their full applications.
A cross-section of community and civic leaders volunteered dozens of hours of their time to evaluate nearly 150 community proposals and provide feedback to the City’s ARPA Leadership Team. The Leadership Team further evaluated proposals and feedback from the community and civic leaders to help determine which proposals are invited to submit full applications for further review. Applications will continue to be scored on a variety of criteria, including equity, collaboration, and sustainability.
The following optional sessions will be held for those invited to submit full applications. Relevant links and invitations will be emailed to invited applicants ahead of the sessions:
- A webinar on Friday, April 22, at 1 p.m.
- An office hours session on Tuesday, April 26 at 10 a.m.
Those proposers moving on to the full application round are being reminded it will not be possible to fund all applications at 100 percent of the amount requested and are being asked to indicate whether their respective projects can produce similar outcomes with lower funding than requested in the pre-application process.
The City’s ARPA Leadership Team is comprised of Mayor Kathy Sheehan, City Treasurer Darius Shahinfar, Common Council President Corey Ellis, Common Council Pro Tempore Kelly Kimbrough, Common Council Majority Leader Ginnie Farrell, Commissioner of Administrative Services Rachel McEneny, and Corporation Counsel Marisa Franchini, Esq.
President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) into law on March 11, 2021, after significant advocacy from across the nation, including by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, and Congressman Paul Tonko.
